    Chef Rommel was born in the Republic of Mauritius, a tropical island located off the coast of Africa. It’s there that he was inspired by the different cultures and culinary diversity, pushing him to choose a culinary career path! Over twenty years ago, Chef Rommel graduated from Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval with a diploma in Hospital Management and a specialization in Culinary Arts. After graduating, he began working at resort hotels and even on a cruise ship due to his passion for adventure, paired with his culinary dreams. Eventually, he came to Canada to continue pursuing those dreams and is now a Sous Chef in the caf here at Carleton Dining! In addition to working with us, Chef Rommel is very interested in culinary competitions and back in 2011, was one of the Top 10 finalists in the Grand Cordon d’Or Global Culinary Competition held in Monaco, France. He is continuously driven by the ever-changing culinary landscape and looks forward to growing and learning more as it progresses forward.
