Executive Sous Chef
We’re thrilled to be able to have Executive Sous Chef Keith join our team at the Teraanga Commons Dining Hall this year! Keith comes to Carleton Dining with a wealth of knowledge and experience that he gained from his time working in kitchens all over Canada. Originally from Ottawa, Keith packed up his car one day and drove to Victoria, BC with the goal of beginning a career as a chef. He soon became a Junior Sous Chef at Fireside Grill, leaving his own mark on their menu development and working with locally inspired Pacific Northwest cuisine.
From there, Keith moved to Calgary to work under Chef Scott McKenzie at River Café and helped guide the restaurant to the #10 spot on Canada’s Best 100 and into the global La Liste Top 1000. Eventually, he returned to Ottawa to work as an Executive Chef at The Metcalfe Hotel and the Sous Chef of Restaurants at the iconic Fairmont Château Laurier. His work philosophy revolves around guiding, nurturing, and uplifting those around him and that growth comes from being 1% better every day.
Outside of the kitchen, Keith finds balance and inspiration in music, particularly live concerts with friends, as well as cliff-jumping and time spent near water.
