Kate Monette

Executive Sous Chef

Having joined our team at Carleton Dining this summer as an Executive Sous Chef, Kate is one of the latest additions to our staff at Teraanga Commons Dining Hall. Kate was born and raised in Ottawa and developed a passion for cooking at a young age helping her mother in the kitchen during holidays and family dinners. After studying at Algonquin College’s Culinary Management Program, she has since forged a 10-year career for herself and has obtained her Red Seal certification.

Prior to joining us, Kate had worked in several hotels and fine dining establishments and is excited to bring the skills and knowledge she learned in those positions to our guests at Carleton. You can also find her at Algonquin College periodically, where she teaches a culinary course part time to other aspiring chefs.

When she’s not cooking or teaching, Kate enjoys snowboarding throughout the winter as well as wakeboarding, gardening and fishing during the summer. She also loves to travel and lists Montenegro, Dubai/Abu Dhabi, and Mauritius as some of her favourite destinations that she has visited.
