Alan has been cooking since cut-gloves were only available in chain mail. He works with a great team as one of our Sous Chefs in Catering and the caf. Alan studied Science at Guelph before deciding that he wanted to become a chef because, let’s be honest, chef hats look cool! He then attended George Brown College and Humber College for Culinary Arts. In 1988, Alan then received his Interprovincial Red Seal.
Since finishing his culinary schooling, Alan has trained in French and Modern Italian Cuisine restaurants in Toronto. He owned a 40-seat restaurant on Yonge Street. With his wife before moving to Ottawa in 1998. After moving to Ottawa, Alan continued to run restaurants and catering until 2016, when he joined our team at Dining Services! Alan always cooks with integrity and tries to keep it fun! His favourite food is anything someone else has made from the heart of chocolate, of course. When he’s not cooking, you can find him at Home Depot because he likes having several projects on the go.
