Located on the 3rd Floor Residence Commons eat care-free at our Residence Dining Hall, also called the Fresh Food Company. Our team of highly trained Chefs will prepare food right in front of your eyes at over 13 different stations. The Fresh Food Company offers a wide variety of meals that rotate on a regular basis. These meals can range from Roasted Pork Tenderloin, Asian Stir Fry’s, and Local Ontario sourced meals, to Curry Fried Rice and Japanese Eggplant.
The Fresh Food Company caters to any dietary needs. Just let us know as we are able to cater to your diet whether you’re lactose intolerant, vegetarian, celiac or any other restrictions and preferences you may have.
Looking for a little dessert too? The Fresh Food Company also prepares all of its own desserts and pastries fresh every day. Pastry Chef Richard Lafleche leads his team in order to bring our customers the best selection of savory treats.
The Fresh Food Company is a nut free facility. We do not use nuts and we purchase guaranteed nut free items where they are available. There is always a risk of outside cross contamination so we advise our guests with severe allergies let us know about their concerns.

Located in the Fresh Food Company, the Gluten-Free Pantry offers Carleton University students a stress-free dining experience. This is the first gluten-free space of its kind in Canada!
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, triticale, and barley and it is used extensively in processed and packaged foods.
The pantry is a locked unit that will only be accessible to students who must avoid gluten due to one of three conditions, as documented by a health professional: a wheat allergy, celiac disease, or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. This will help to regulate use of the pantry and prevent cross-contamination with gluten-containing items. Sufficient medical documentation is required to receive card access and the Gluten-Free Questionnaire must be completed. The Gluten-Free Pantry is accessible at every meal time during the regular school year.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the absorptive surface of the small intestine which is damaged by the presence of gluten. This results in an inability of the body to absorb nutrients including protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, which are necessary for good health.
Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is a separate condition that cannot be diagnosed through tests, though symptoms include abdominal pain similar to irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, headaches and paresthesia (tingling of the extremities) when gluten is consumed, so individuals feel better on a gluten-free diet.
A wheat allergy is an overreaction of the immune system to a specific protein or component of wheat. When ingested, it can trigger an allergic reaction that may include a range of mild to severe allergic symptoms and can be potentially fatal.

All bag meal replacements must be ordered 48 hours before the day requested. Your bag meal can be picked up at the checker desk. It will be available between 4pm the day before and 10pm the day of, and can be picked up during normal hours of operation.
Bagged meals will be deducted from your meal plan. Entry to the Fresh Food Company is not possible during meal periods for which bagged meals have been ordered.
